In Chapter 11 oysters and buttered bread  we encounter an installation of paintings, poetry, sculpture and embroidered works. Carroll's poem plays out in lines and stanzas between paintings. Carroll's poem is a series of fragmented thoughts of her experience and life in Hill End. However, they do not articulate one clear picture. Instead, we are drawn into shifting observations and experiences in Carroll's world. There is an intentional lack of clarity, we are forced to reread and pin down the meaning of the oscillation lines as they shift through the paintings. here Carroll embraces absurdity to make sense of the complexities of life.
